How Does Coffee with Milk Impact Your Health?

Roughly 4 to 5% of cow’s milk comprises complex fats. Adding milk to coffee increases the latter beverage’s fat content.

Milk consists of proteins such as casein and whey. They give lattes and cappuccinos their signature taste. The protein content of coffee will increase if you add cow’s milk or creamer.

Should you add milk to your coffee?

Contrary to popular belief, regular intake of coffee with milk enhances your health to some extent. However, it’s not always the best drink.

1. Why You Should Drink Coffee with Milk

a. Add milk if your body has high acid levels

Those with high acidity shouldn’t take too much coffee, mainly if it’s black because it has a high PH level. Black coffee also heightens uric acid. Adding milk reduces the acidity. Note that you should take in water and vegetables to quicken the process.

b. Have milk with coffee to prevent oesophageal cancer

People worry that coffee drinking results in esophageal cancer. Many of us know that black coffee burns the esophageal tissue, which, in turn, promotes malignancy. Milk decreases the temperature of the coffee and prevents this.

A study found that people who drank coffee with full-cream milk consumed 69 more calories daily than those who drank black coffee. In short, you may end up gaining weight if you add milk to your coffee.

b. Black, not white coffee, enhances memory

Growing older means decreased cognitive skills and increased risk of Dementia, Parkinson’s, and Alzheimer’s disease. Dementia is a natural and unwanted consequence of aging. Coffee lovers should know that that it’s drinking black, and not milk with coffee in the morning that improves mental cognition.



It’s also black coffee that slows the rate of these diseases as much as 65%. The drink also enhances memory power.

c. Black, not white coffee, improves exercise performance

Coffee without milk does wonders for a person’s physical performance. It allows you to deliver more than 100% during a workout and explains why your physical trainer may ask you to drink black coffee before one. It also adds to the beverage’s epinephrine content.

Black coffee also breaks down body fat and sends it into the bloodstream.

d. Espressos are beneficial for the liver and cleanse the stomach

The liver performs many essential functions and is an ardent fan of black coffee. Coffee with no milk gives the liver a boost with cancer and hepatitis prevention. Those who drink black coffee daily are 80% less likely to develop these diseases.

As a diuretic, coffee makes us want to visit the loo. Black coffee is especially useful because it purges antioxidants from the body. The active purging gives the tummy a daily overhaul. Scientists at Nestle’s Research Centre in Switzerland found that it contains cancer-preventing polyphenols.

e. Black coffee improves cognition

While drinking milk with coffee causes weight gain, an espresso does the opposite. Black coffee makes a person work out often. It also bums tummy fat because it gives our metabolism a lift. It signals the body to break down fat cells and use them as energy.

g. Black coffee improves cardiovascular health and lowers diabetes risk

Coffee is also welcome news for those with diabetes. A systematic review of 13 studies showed that it decreases diabetic risk.

h. Espressos promote graceful aging

Do you want to drink the elixir from the fountain of youth? Coffee may not be that elixir but is a close substitute. It prevents Parkinson’s disease and increases dopamine in the body.

In all, coffee with milk is not unhealthy. But its benefits cannot trump an espresso’s.
