Sometimes it’s the little things that make the biggest impact in our lives. In this post, I want to dissect some of the ‘little’ factors that may be holding you back and they may even come as a surprise to you.
If you’ve got stuck on your journey to success, one of these factors might have been the problem.
#1 Doubting Yourself
This is huge and goes unrecognized; we have so many limiting beliefs about ourselves it’s unreal. When you doubt about achieving success it won’t happen because what you believe manifest into your reality. Doubting yourself puts a fake wall around yourself and until you knock it down you remain stuck.
There is a little voice you hear saying you’ll never do it, it won’t work out for you, and you are not good enough, what gives YOU the right to do such and such…. And so on. What matters is how you respond to that voice and what you do next.
#2 Negative thinking
So here’s the deal – we have up to 50,000 thoughts a day, around 40,000 of these are sadly negative ones. Your thoughts need a filter which means you need to recognise what thoughts you are having throughout the day. You need to become a ‘watcher’ and begin changing the negative thoughts into positive ones.
Do this by wearing an elastic band around your wrist for 30 days and every time you begin to have self sabotaging, negative thoughts, pull the elastic…then let it go. (OUCH) Then create a more empowering thought. This will help you not only have more empowering positive thoughts throughout your day; you will get into the habit of recognising what you are thinking about.
#3 Fear of failure
First of all you are going to fail at some point, over and over if you’re doing things right. The fact that you are doing nothing is the problem. Fear is an IDEA you have decided to create to keep you from achieving what you want in life. In other words – it’s not real.
This IDEA that you will fail at something is the very thing holding you back.
#4 Criticizing yourself and others
If I’m honest people who do this drain me. Period. Always have something to say about someone else and putting themselves down. If this is you then you need to realize this does nothing to help you grasp your dream. Your life will always suck.
#5 Negative self talk
What things are you telling yourself on a daily basis? This works consciously and subconsciously, because what you say about yourself will sink into your subconscious and be evident in your daily life. So much of our lives are bombarded with ideas that we are inadequate, we need more, we need to be more and have more.
It’s up to you to tell yourself you are enough. You CAN do this. You can start right now where you are and with what you’ve got. Speak good things about yourself on a daily basis, it may be uncomfortable at first but over time you’ll become confident and begin getting results you want.
Procrastination will kill anyone’s dream. Seriously, everyone does it, but why? There are many reasons. But what’s yours? If you want to have the house, car, money, and success then you must be taking action. Write stuff down on your calendar then commit to doing the task when it’s time to do so.
#7 Fear of success
You get started on your journey, you create something amazing, now comes the time to share it with the world. But you’re putting it off, making excuses, finding fault, and doing #6… I get it, you are scared. Fear of success is holding you back keeping you from progress and the success you really want.
This is usually subconscious, so if you’re not where you want to be right now ask yourself:
“Is my fear of success holding me back?”
#8 People pleasing
If you made it this far reading this post then good because the point I’m making here is important. Trying to please other people will NOT work. There are always going to be haters and there will always be others who don’t get what you do, sadly it’s their job to try and make your life a misery and it’s your job to do what you want in life anyway, even if it means NOT pleasing the whole world. Besides its IMPOSSIBLE!
There are probably a lot more things damaging your chances of success right now but it’s up to you to challenge them. Get started by evaluating these 8 things in your life now.
Are any of them holding you back?
