Do you often feel tired for no reason? Does it sometimes seem to you that you’ve lost interest in everything? Your life balance may be off. Eastern civilizations have incorporated the word “balance” in their daily routine and have made a religion out of it.

For many Japanese people, for example, balance is a very core of existence. And if a person gets sick, it means that their life balance is suffering and needs to be restored.

And after so many years of looking for it, western civilizations started to feel like there’s definitely something truly important about balance and its role. But are we really able to notice the minute our life loses its balance?

What are the signs of life imbalance and how to cope with it?

Here are 10 signs that your life balance is off and 5 major tips to help you achieve it!

Sign #1: Your priorities are vague

When you have clear priorities in your life, it makes the decision-making process much easier. Noticing that you have no clear priorities in life is a major sign that your life balance is out of order.

You may have too many of them, or may not have any at all. Still, this is a sign that you don’t have a clue what to do with your life. Hence, your life is out of balance.

Sign #2: You let others decide for you

And it’s perfectly understandable. When your priorities fall apart, it makes it hard to make decisions and take actions. Thus, the easiest way out of it is that you let others decide what you must do and what you should be.

Clearly, it seems that your life doesn’t belong to you anymore.

Sign #3: You’re out of shape

You just simply have no interest in exercising and helping your body stay fit and healthy. You’re eating junk food or stuff yourself with lots of sugary cakes and biscuits. You don’t care how you look and what others might think of you.

Sign #4: You’re obsessing over being perfect

You’re trying to prove everybody that everything you do and how you look is perfect. However, when you come home, no one shares your obsessions, because no one actually cares about it. But it’s stuck in your head and it’s slowly poisoning your life.

Sign #5: You’ve become messy

You don’t care about your space anymore. Your apartment or room you live in is a complete mess and your work desk is chaos. It’s not just that you don’t have time to clean. You simply don’t care.

Sign #6: You’re sick of people

Only if you’re not an introvert, becoming sick and tired of people surrounding you is a bad sign. Isolating yourself from society is the first sign of depression. And depression and a lack of life balance go hand in hand.

Sign #7: You’re slaving at work round-the-clock

You’re drowning yourself in work, choosing not to notice that the real problem is already there. You choose to stay blind to other problems that are present in your life. Work is the solution for you because it exhausts you so much that you don’t feel anything anymore.

You just work and sleep. You’re a robot. This is one of the most telltale signs that your life balance is off.

Sign #8: You easily lose your temper

Have you noticed that you’ve started arguing with your family members more often? Or maybe you’ve yelled at your colleague or your boss? You are no longer able to possess yourself, getting at everything that surrounds you.

Sign #9: You barely stay awake

No matter what you do, you just can’t wake up! You fall asleep at work, you have a nap in public transport, which makes you miss your stop. You’re exhausted and you need some sleep to reboot.

Sign #10: You have no interest in life

You started to think that all that “take each opportunity in your life” and “your life is amazing” is complete and utter nonsense. You have no time for that. And, what’s more, important is that you have no desire to pursue that. You’ve become completely indifferent to your life, and you don’t care.

How Can You Restore Life Balance?

  • Take a day off

You’ve probably forgotten what it is, but taking a day off and allowing your body to relax and recharge is a perfect medicine to bring your life balance back in order. Allow yourself to sleep as much as you want. You deserve that.

  • Eat well

In order to think clearly and prevent stress, you need the right diet. Provide your body with the necessary vitamins and minerals to keep your physical health in order. Lots of healthy diets are available online, just do it!

  • Exercise regularly

You need regular exercise not only for keeping your body in shape but also for your mental health. Just try to wake up early in the morning and run a couple of miles. You’ll notice the difference right away.

  • Call your family and friends

Remember that your friends and family will always support you and get you through the toughest times in your life. How long has it been since you’ve visited your family or had a chat with your friends? If it’s been ages, put everything aside and make that call.

  • Laughter is the best medicine

For sure, it’s really hard to stay positive when you lose your life balance and it feels like if your life is falling apart. But watching comedy movies or reading something that makes your laugh will instantly boost your mood. A positive attitude is your weapon against life imbalance and depression.
