1. Keep to a nutrient-packed diet<\/h4>\n

First of all, ensure that your meals are full of wholesome goodness. It’s a task to prepare well-balanced meals all the time. However, the well-being we get in return for our effort is worth it.<\/p>\n

Dr. Mainardi isn’t the only expert who advocates a healthy diet. Harvard Health<\/a> also suggests that we should eat plenty of fruits and vegetables to keep our immune system at it’s best performance.<\/p>\n

2. Exercise Regularly<\/h4>\n

Dr. Mainardi also supports having a regular workout routine<\/a>. Exercise does more than keep us slim; it’s also critical for maintaining our immune systems.<\/p>\n

A study<\/a> by the Appalachian State University and the University of North Carolina, published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine covered 1002 adults over 12 weeks. Those who exercised didn’t report illnesses.<\/p>\n

3. Sleep<\/h4>\n

Dr. Mainardi explains that medical residents who worked 100-hour work weeks risked not only contracting diseases but reactivating those they had before. Commonly reactivated infections include the chicken pox and shingles.<\/p>\n

4. Washing Hands<\/h4>\n

Everyone knows that washing our hands is the best way to prevent infections, But we don’t do this very well.<\/p>\n

Many of us use antibacterial soaps, but they aren’t good for our immunity in the long run. Dr. Mainardi suggests using regular ones that we’re comfortable with instead. Furthermore, the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA)<\/a> indicates that ordinary soaps are the only ones that are necessary.<\/p>\n

5. Use a Sanitizer<\/h4>\n

Hand sanitizers are a must have for camping trips<\/a>, when there aren’t many places where we can stop to wash our hands. Dr. Mainardi recommends Purell, a sanitizer used in hospitals. The Center for Disease Control (CDC<\/a>) supports this view and advises how to use them correctly.<\/p>\n

6. Take Probiotics<\/h4>\n

Moreover, Dr. Mainardi suggests having the right bacteria in the gut because the wrong ones may prevent the body from fighting infections.<\/p>\n

He suggests that fermented foods<\/a> such as kimchi have healthier bacteria than other foods. Probiotic supplements and recipes that include probiotics work well when to boost the immune system.<\/p>\n

7. Take the right supplements<\/h4>\n

Finally, it’s wise to scrutinize the supplements you’re taking. Vitamin supplements aren’t always necessary because we can get nutrients from our food<\/a>. Dr. Mainardi suggests that Vitamins A, D, E, and K are dangerous in high doses.<\/p>\n
