{"id":18839,"date":"2016-07-16T22:07:28","date_gmt":"2016-07-16T19:07:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lifeadvancer.com\/?p=18839"},"modified":"2016-07-16T22:07:28","modified_gmt":"2016-07-16T19:07:28","slug":"modern-generation-true-meaning-of-love","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lifeadvancer.com\/modern-generation-true-meaning-of-love\/","title":{"rendered":"Why Modern Generation Is Losing the True Meaning of Love"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The true meaning of love has vanished in today&#8217;s society, by having virtual lives on social media.<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Shakespeare wrote that <em>\u201clove looks not with the eyes, but with the mind\u201d<\/em>, but what if we as a generation are focusing too much on looking with the eyes, rather than our minds?<\/p>\n<p><strong>We live in an era of virtual lives.<\/strong> We throw ourselves into taking the perfect Instagram pic, articulating the perfect Facebook status, and coming up with the perfect Tweet. Our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifeadvancer.com\/social-media-and-relationships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">online personas<\/a> are exactly how we want them to be because <strong>that is how we want people to see us<\/strong>, but we as humans are inherently imperfect.<\/p>\n<p><strong>There is a growing problem among our generation<\/strong>: we are confusing the people we see online with the people we meet in real life, and in turn, we make little effort to develop a relationship with the person they truly are.<\/p>\n<p>No one can live up to the image they portray on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifeadvancer.com\/social-media-users\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">social media<\/a>, we set ourselves impossibly high boundaries by basing our standards on the actors and models that we see all over television and social media, and as a result, <strong>we can never live up to the alter ego we portray online<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Gone are the days of dating, love letters, and meaningful gestures; instead they are replaced with <strong>a like, a poke, and if you\u2019re feeling daring you may even \u2018pop up\u2019<\/strong> and this has affected our relationships in so many ways.<\/p>\n<p>The desperation to portray a perfect life on social media has started to include our relationships, which we also try to portray as perfect, and this puts undue pressure on the relationships we have.<\/p>\n<h3>Relationships are naturally imperfect<\/h3>\n<p>We make mistakes and we learn from them, we do better the next time, but when we put pressure on our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifeadvancer.com\/take-full-responsibility-relationships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">relationships<\/a> by plastering them all over social media, we are forcing ourselves into a kind of relationship we aren\u2019t ready for. This includes saying the L-word before you\u2019re ready for it and spending all of your time together taking \u2018<em>cute photos<\/em>\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><strong>We no longer make time to talk and spend quality time together<\/strong>, and it threatens to deteriorate our relationships altogether.<\/p>\n<h3>So how do we fix it? How can we find again the true meaning of love?<\/h3>\n<p>There is an ever so simple remedy to this problem, and it\u2019s simply to <strong>make time for each other, talk to each other, and learn to love each other with your minds<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Learn to love the mind of your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifeadvancer.com\/how-to-attract-the-right-partner-into-your-life\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">partner<\/a> and love them completely; <strong>don\u2019t feel the need to put it all on social media.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Your relationship belongs to you; it is down to you to make it work, so make an effort to really and truly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.psychologytoday.com\/us\/blog\/the-juicy-bits\/201107\/why-fall-in-love\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">fall in love<\/a> with your partner.<\/p>\n<h4>This is the true meaning of love!<\/h4>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The true meaning of love has vanished in today&#8217;s society, by having virtual lives on social media.
