I’ve often said that my soul animal is a cat. They’re sleek felines who live for leisure – who wouldn’t want that kind of life?! It’s only after observing my friends cat that I decided we should all start living more like cats do, and we’ll be purring away in no time.

Cats are well-known for being an independent animal – sure, leave some food out for them every now and then but it’s fairly safe to say they come and go as they please, without much help from humans. You should live your life that way too (minus the part about relying on other humans for food) – do what makes you happy and come and go as you please. Being independent is what life is all about, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have somebody to cuddle up to when you feel like it.

Cat’s do what they want. They’ll happily sit there grooming their fur, ignoring your pleas for attention, because they put themselves first and if their fur needs grooming, it needs grooming, regardless of what else is going on around them.

Sure, take this with a pinch of salt, but the message should still be the same – you are your priority and it’s okay to put yourself first sometimes.

Cats don’t care for things that don’t interest them, they simply go after the things they like and the things that make them happy. As humans, we should do this more often. Do what makes you happy, pursue things that grab your interest and don’t let other people get in your way.

Cats always bring their owners gifts – dead birds, dead mice, the intention is there and they see it as a show of affection for their owner. Be generous with your time and give those you love a gift. It doesn’t have to be expensive, or cost any money at all – just be generous.

Cats are Independent

Make yourself a Priority

Pursue things that interest you

Be Generous

Be Relentless about What you Want
