When times get tough, everyone wants to give you advice. That doesn’t always work. Uplifting quotes may be the only thing that lifts your spirits.

There’s a reason why uplifting quotes make you ultimately feel better. It seems like everyone wants to say, “Be positive”, “Stop thinking about it so much”, but there are few of these people that truly understand your individual situation.

Although a certain amount of support is needed at times, it’s not the only way to get through the tough times.

Uplifting quotes reach hidden places

Tough times can be so tough that you feel like giving up, and with misunderstandings, it’s almost unbearable. Sometimes it’s best to be alone for a while and do some soul-searching. Yeah, I know that sounds kind of cliché, but it’s true. Here are a few uplifting quotes to help you through your torment.

“Tough times never last, but tough people do.”

-Robert H. Schuller

The first thing you must remember is that bad times will not always be the norm in your life. You are tough, and when tough times come, you will be able to conquer these problems. Nothing is forever, good or bad, so you know the bad things will go away. Be strong and endure.

“Courage does not always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, ‘ I will try again tomorrow.”

-Mary Anne Radmacher

We’ve seen courageous people stand tall and speak in a loud voice, announcing their presence, right? Yes, that’s one way to see the fearless. On the other hand, courage can be humble, yet strong, speaking softly, standing firm, and withstanding the storm in life.

Never define courage in a way that you are accustomed because courage will sometimes come from the smallest places, the tiniest voices, and the biggest hearts.

“Challenges are what makes life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.”

-Joshua J. Marine

Life might be dull without a little adversity. Come on, admit it. The reason why challenges and tough times come is for various reasons. One thing is for certain, adversity makes us stronger and adds meaning to our lives.

“Hope is important because it can make the present moment less difficult to bear. If we believe that tomorrow will be better, we can bear a hardship today.”

-Thich Nhat Hanh

So many times, we lose hope, and this is why we become so devastated by negative situations. To retain hope, however, we can make these tough times much easier to bear. We know that these problems will also pass, as did the others in the past.

“Hard times don’t create heroes. It is during the hard times when the ‘hero’ within us is revealed.”

-Bob Riley

We never know what we are truly made of until we conquer adversity. Some people think that heroes are born from heartache and strife, but this is not true. We have always had the hero inside of us.

It is just revealed when we realize we are stronger than we thought, and we can do anything we put our minds to.

“In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life. It goes on.”

-Robert Frost

No matter what you learn, when dealing with tough times, nothing is as beneficial as the simplicity of reality. You will learn that no matter what you face, you will have to continue through life. You should never give up.

“It doesn’t matter how slow you go, as long as you don’t stop.”

-Confucius

Many times, just because things don’t seem to be improving in your life, you think it’s hopeless. You may also criticize yourself on how long it takes to heal, or the work it takes to improve your situation.

As these uplifting quotes start to churn in your head, remember one thing: don’t stop trying. Even the slow runners cross the finish line.

“Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent.”

-Eleanor Roosevelt

Who gave you that negative name that you wear as a badge? Was it you? If someone tells you that you’re not worthy of love, then you must know it’s not true. It’s up to you to take off the badge and be proud of who you are, no matter how large your failings might be in the eyes of the judgemental.

“I didn’t fail the test. I just found 100 ways to do it wrong.”

-Benjamin Franklin

Don’t think of tough times as failures. Rather it’s more beneficial to see mistakes as things you did in the wrong way. This is how lessons are learned and then passed to others to prevent them from making the same mistakes. Failures are like fertilizer for things to grow.

“Learn to value yourself, which means: fight for your happiness.”

-Ayn Rand

There is a huge misconception about happiness. People cannot make other people happy. When you learn to appreciate who you are, with your own standards and morals, you will create happiness for yourself. Those who fit into this equation can share happiness alongside you.

The key is to find strength in uplifting quotes

If you’re in pain and feel hopeless, it’s okay. I’m not telling you to deny your feelings whatsoever. I only hope for you to feel your pain honestly and work through the issues that present themselves in tough times. Saying “Stop being negative” seems strong, but it doesn’t quite cut it.

We, as people, want to know how to use this statement and find active solutions to our distress. So, let’s keep trying. And believe me, you are not alone in your pain.
