There is no better irony in a story than that of a recent move by the federal government to commission a group of scientists to prove that medical marijuana had no health benefits only to be proven otherwise! Does it mean that the government now admits that medical marijuana kills cancer cells?

Marijuana and cancer

The scientists from the St. George’s University of London did a very critical analysis of CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and found that they actually play a massive role in reducing cancer growth and in some special cases even destroying cancer. Of course, there is no entropy in this study to many but the fact that the government is now aware is the real deal here.

In fact, the study from NIDA (National Institute on Drug Abuse) even provided us with some specific information about medical marijuana and cancer.

It was found that an extract from a whole plant is capable of destroying even the stubbornest of brain tumors. Moreover, using marijuana together with radiations fastened the rate at which the cells were killed.

Again, this is dissimilar to studying rocket science as we have all been aware of similar facts from previous studies. The question that begs to be answered is why the government took so long to see what looks crystal clear to many? Perhaps, they have been playing a game of numbers in a bid to try and protect their income from expensive cancer treatment.

What’s next?

On average, a cancer patient coughs up to $85,000 for treatment! Such figures can show why the federal government has been fighting this issue for decades. With this new research, one can argue that the federal government is looking for a hideout in the form of letting to be known that the study disproves all the other studies!

All arguments aside, this is a new beginning for many who have struggled to get here. You can be forgiven to think of it as that light at the end of the tunnel given there is a bill in place that is bound to take cannabis from Schedule I substance to a Schedule II.

If you do not know what this means, then, in simple terms, it highlights the medical value of marijuana, meaning that a state can set policies on the same without interference. There could not be better news than that!
