If you believe that you didn’t give up on your dreams, this article may surprise you.

Everybody has a dream that keeps them going throughout the day. But sometimes it can be hard to stay focused on them. And what’s worst is that you might not even realize you have given up on your dreams.

It might be a feeling that comes in gradually, and as time goes by, you become more and more comfortable not pursuing your ultimate goal.

Don’t let that happen. Keep an eye out for the warning signs.

1. You Keep Telling Yourself “Not Yet”

Everyone knows that achieving your dreams takes time. It’s only natural. If you don’t dream big, then why dream at all? But at a certain point, this can become an excuse to stop pursuing them.

So, you might be telling yourself that now is not the right time to start working towards your great goal. But when “now” turns into months or even years, there might be a problem. You might, in fact, be stalling for time.

And sooner or later you’re going to feel more and more comfortable in the state you’re in. And it’s going to be incredibly hard to pull out of it.

2. Over-Analyzing The Process

Another thing many people do when they start giving up is to overanalyze the steps it takes to achieve their dreams. Having a plan and not charging blindly forwards is definitely a good idea.

But make sure you’re actually coming up with a real, doable plan, and not just making up obstacles, and making up excuses.

Don’t worry if you don’t have everything figured out from the very beginning. And more important than that, don’t worry about what other people are going to think about you.

That can be one of the biggest obstacles in your path towards happiness. Get rid of it.

So, how about trying to implement some of those plans? If you take it step by step, what’s the worse that can happen?

3. Doubting Yourself

This one of the surest signs you’ve given up. When you start doubting your own abilities to achieve your dreams, it’s going to be nearly impossible to get out there and do something about it.

If you convince yourself you don’t have what it takes, you might be thinking why even bother. But what do you think people who achieved success had that you don’t?

Take a look at Oprah Winfrey. She started out basically penniless, and through hard work and determination, she ended having been worth millions of dollars. No one is saying it’s going to be easy, but if you don’t give it a shot, you’re definitely not going to achieve anything in life.

4. Ignoring Opportunities

This is perhaps the most common excuse people use when they’ve given up on their dreams. They always have the sense that if only they would know the right people, or if only they were given a chance, they could shine.

But how many of these opportunities have you really recognized for what they were? Remember that there’s a lot of luck involved when it comes to achieving success. But if you don’t put yourself out there, how’s luck going to find you?

So assume every chance encounter, every friendly outing, each project you can be a part of is an opportunity of some sort. Meeting new people is the key to success. It might not pay out immediately, but you never know.

How are you going to find out if something is your chance to shine if you don’t try?

5. Convincing Yourself “It’s Fine”

This is what all of those excuses ramp up to. The moment you start believing you never wanted the thing that’s kept you going so far.

Once you’ve started saying that you’re fine in the place you’re at, you’ve truly given up. And what’s worse, deep down, you’re never truly going to feel fine. Because that’s not true.

So if you have even the slightest nagging frustration that something needs to be changed, that things are not ok just the way they are, seize that tiny spark. It’s what’s going to pull you out of your routine.

If you are genuinely not comfortable with your life, don’t just sit there. Get up and do something about it. Complacency can be the death of your dreams. If there’s something that’s bugging you, try to change it.

Because even if you don’t fully succeed, you’ll be that much closer to achieving your dreams. You’re definitely not going to move forward if you’re not moving at all.

And always remember that achieving your dreams is supposed to take time. Passion is what keeps us going all throughout our lives. Your dreams are the beacon that leads on the path to happiness.

But the path can be just as rewarding as achieving success, as long as you stay on it.
