Your body has some pressure points that when stimulated and massaged, can help to relieve stress and other health problems.

Stress has and will affect us all at some point or many points in our life.

For some it’s where to go on holiday next, for others, it’s how they will pay their rent this month. Symptoms of stress can include chest pains, depression, inability to sleep, nausea and irritability to name but a few.

For some medicating is the only way to relieve these symptoms. If only there was a button to turn it off…if you are a believer and fan of acupressure and other alternative medicines then there is a way to control and relieve stress by connecting pressure to certain areas of the body.

A number of high profiled studies have concluded that if you apply pressure to the correct areas of the body, it can help with some health conditions. These health conditions that would benefit from acupressure are headaches, nausea and of course stress. This process of applying pressure to the pressure points of the body goes back to Chinese medicine.

If we look at the health condition that is stress, there are a number of areas on the body that can be massaged and stimulated to help alleviate the often-crippling symptoms of stress.

Below are some pressure points located on the body that when stimulated and massaged, can help to relieve stress and other health problems.

1. He Gu

This is the area found on the hand. Close the thumb and index finger and He Gu is located at the highest point of the muscle. Massage this area to relieve stress, headaches, toothaches and facial pain.

2. Jian Jing

This is located in the shoulder muscle. You must pinch the shoulder muscle with a thumb and middle finger and stimulate this area for 5 seconds. Massage this area to relieve stress, toothache, facial pain, and headaches.

3. Tai Chong

This area is located on the foot. To locate this pressure point, use a two-finger width from where the skin of your big toe joins with the next toe. Massage this area to relieve menstrual cramps, high blood pressure, insomnia, anxiety, and stress.

If you apply pressure to this area you are helping to unblock the networks and ensure there is a smooth flow of energy through the rest of the body.

4. Feng Chi

This area is located at the base of the neck. To locate this pressure point use your thumb and follow the ear one down to where the neck muscles meet the skull. Massage this area to relieve migraine pain, fatigue, low energy, headaches, and stress.

This area is located just off the shinbone. To locate this pressure point, use a finger width below the kneecap and a four finger width on the outside area of the leg. Massage this area for up to one minute to relieve stress, vomiting, and gastrointestinal discomfort.

These are just a few of the pressure points located around the body that when massaged correctly can help relieve the symptoms of stress and anxiety.
