YOLO, you only live once, was the motto of people for many years. It’s an expression that encourages people to live life to the fullest, be adventurous and do things they can’t imagine they could. You often see it posted as a hashtag to numerous social media feeds.

When I speak to older folks, they often say that life is short. In a seeming blink of an eye, they went from a teenager to a parent of two. A main topic of discussion is what they feel like they missed in life, which is actually a lot.

Every person says they wished they had gone for it and done something that at the time they didn’t feel like they could but now wish they had.

Never let an opportunity pass! Let’s take a look at a few outdoor activities and adventures you should try before it’s too late.

adventures you should try before it’s too late

Tend To a Garden

Well, if you are expecting some extreme activity, you need to read more down below, but a great outdoor activity is simply gardening. It may sound calm, relaxing, for others even boring, but tending to plants and see them bloom and flower is a rewarding experience. In fact, it’s a real adventure of its kind!

It looks easy, but in actuality, it requires a lot of time and effort. You will need to watch it and monitor its growth, but hopefully, you will have large plants. Growing a garden of fruits and vegetables because it lets you thoroughly enjoy what you’ve grown.

Skydiving

If you are looking for extreme outdoor adventures, then skydiving is totally for you. Free falling more than 10,000 feet to the ground is nothing less than a heart thumping, mind racing, hand sweating experience.

Skydiving is more than just raising your adrenaline hormones. It is about fulfilling your dreams of flying, giving you a literal bird’s eye view, appreciating the aerial landscape and simply letting go.

Mountain Climbing

Mountain climbing may look daunting, and exhausting; because it really is but it is all worth it. Walking, climbing, and challenging yourself to reach the peak is one of the most exhausting you can do, not to mention it takes hours, sometimes even days to reach the top.

When you are at the top, you can look down and enjoy what you’ve accomplished and see the world for a different viewpoint.

Paintballing

Are you competitive?  If so, a paintball battle may be for you.  Masked as a fun sports activity, paintball is actually an endurance workout that helps your cardiovascular system stay strong.

Being an activity played between teams fosters friendship, fun, teamwork, and competitiveness. Watch out, getting hit by a paintball can hurt!

Fishing

If you want to take a break from the noise of our daily lives, then fishing might be the outdoor activity for you. Fishing requires you to stay put in one place and practice your patience.

The ultimate fun in fishing is getting the biggest, fattest fish in the water, it does not matter if it’s in the sea, river, or your very own pond. Just make sure you are equipped with the right gear for the right environment and kind of fish.

Paragliding

Paragliding is like the third cousin of skydiving in terms of the awesome view. You technically glide or hover in the atmosphere and can last for hours if you can control it and know how to manipulate the winds.

Unlike skydiving, you can essentially navigate your direction and can be as calm as it could be; unlike skydiving where it is all about the adrenaline rush.

Coasteering

The combination of swimming, climbing, scrambling, exploring, caving, diving, hiking, and jumping is what makes coasteering a thing to do. Originally from Wales, coasteering has found its way in Australia, USA, and Canada.

If you are the type of person who needs to be thrilled and likes wild adventures, then this outdoor activity is for you.

Ziplining

Ziplining appears to be a staple in many resorts and tourist areas in the world because it is totally fun. Imagine going 40 mph all the while suspended hundreds of feet in the air. Not to mention, the beautiful views along the way.

Wild Swimming

Swimming is when you dip to a clean chlorine-filled pool, wild swimming is when you prefer diving into natural bodies of water like rivers, ponds, lakes, streams, or an ocean.

That fact alone makes wild swimming a more extreme form of swimming and an ultimate outdoor adventure. Just make sure you are aware of the location, possible animals, water-borne diseases, insects and the temperature, natural bodies of waters can be extremely cold.

Skiing

If you love playing in the snow, then skiing is the outdoor activity you should do. It can be pricey, but it does not have to be. All you need basically is a coat, insulated pants, a pair of winter gloves; you can rent out your board to the resort.

The beauty of skiing lies on the challenge, the exercise it provides, and the vacation that goes along with it. All of this makes it one of the greatest outdoor adventures you could try.

Snorkeling

If you find the ocean stunning, just wait until you see the beauty that lies beneath its waters. Snorkeling, or even diving, can give you a chance to take a glimpse of the mesmerizing colors, creations, and creatures of the waters.

Unlike diving, you are not required to do any training, technically all you need is some snorkeling mask.
