Being in a new relationship is wonderful. Once you’ve managed to form a new relationship, you’re going to feel like you’re at the top of the world. However, new relationship anxiety may spoil this wonderful experience.
Before you know it, you’re going to find yourself worrying about everything. You might become anxious or you could become jealous. These are two feelings that you need to learn how to overcome as quickly as possible. Otherwise, it might ruin your relationship.
So, how can you know for certain that you’re dealing with new relationship anxiety? You’ll find out below.
1. You Are Unable To Sleep
Are you having a tough time sleeping? Do you find yourself tossing and turning all night long? If the answers are yes, there is a good chance that you’re dealing with new relationship anxiety.
The good news is that this is something that you should be able to overcome. Counseling can help, if the anxiety is severe. If not, you should try to put it out of your head. A nice warm bath before bedtime can help.
You should also take up exercising. Either option should work very well.
2. Looking For Prying Eyes
When you begin dealing with new relationship anxiety, you’re probably going to be worried that your partner is cheating on you. Or, you might be jealous of other men or women. You’ll probably look around for others that might be eyeballing your partner.
This can be a difficult problem to overcome. Nevertheless, you must do it if you want to keep your relationship alive. Make sure that you have trust in your partner. If they really care about you, they’re not going to cheat on you.
3. Social Media Spying
A lot of people in new relationships will pay close attention to their partners through social media. Some might even check out their partner’s activities online. This isn’t a really big deal, but it is something that you need to be cautious about.
You can definitely check out your partner’s profile on these sites, but you need to be very careful about it. After all, you’re going to land in hot water if your partner catches you checking out their page.
Again, you have to put the mistrust behind you. If your partner is going to leave, they’re going to leave either way. Trust them or get out of the relationship before it is too late.
4. You’re Chewing Your Nails
Do you constantly find yourself chewing your fingernails? Believe it or not, this is something that many people with new relationship anxiety will do.
Why? Well, they’re nervous about what their significant other could be doing. This is something that you need to stop right away. Chewing your nails is downright nasty and it is definitely going to cause your partner some concern.
Speak to your partner and let them know how you feel. If they really care about you, they’re going to do everything humanly possible to make you feel comfortable. They’ll ease your worries so you no longer have to worry about them cheating on you.
5. Sending Mixed Signals
When you are undergoing new relationship anxiety, you will tend to give off mixed signals. It probably won’t even be something that you mean to do, but it will just happen this way. You might not even really notice it as first.
One minute you will have a warm and inviting personality and the next thing you know, you will be distant and cold to your partner. You will be changing tunes so fast that it will make your partner’s head spin.
If you have ever experienced this from a partner in the past, it is probably something that you are going to do when you start a new relationship.
So, if you have been throughout this yourself, you need to keep an eye on your emotions and catch yourself when you are switching gears. It will not only frustrate your new partner, but it will send out mixed signals.
6. Anger and Acting Out
Anxiety can often time be brought because you constantly sit around and worry about future events. And, most of the time these scenarios never even happen, but it is like you are almost just sitting around waiting for them to happen.
This creates a volatile environment because it is like a nagging in the back of your mind that will eventually turn into anger. You will either snap at your partner or start arguments and fight out of the blue.
This is something that you have to recognize right away and stop. You need to learn to block out these kinds of thoughts and learn to focus your mind on other things.
Maybe take up a hobby, read a book, or go for a walk. Anything is better than just sitting around worrying about future events that might never even take place.
