Research has found that more than 75% of Americans have gum diseases. One of them is Gingivitis – a disease caused by bacteria that lead to inflammation of the gums.

If gingivitis is left unattended, it can lead to periodontitis which is more severe. This can make the inner layer of the gum to pull away from the teeth.

1. Baking soda

3. Tea tree oil

4. Clove oil

It is applied to the gums directly during dental work or when one has a toothache. It reduces pain during the process but it should be used in moderation since more of it can cause damage to the tooth pulp, skin and mucous membrane.

5. Turmeric

It is great for fighting inflammation and other infections. It is a perfect therapy for gum disease. Turmeric can be added to your diet or directly to your gum and teeth. Applying twice daily will minimize cases of gingivitis and periodontitis.

6. Coconut oil

It protects and hydrates gums naturally. It has lauric acid which is anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory. Try taking coconut oil thirty minutes before going to bed in a bid to heal any mouth and gum infections.

Dental hygiene is very important to everyone. It helps maintain the general health of the whole body. The remedies are given above and other medical ones should be taken seriously and incorporated into daily lifestyle if you are to keep an eye on your dental hygiene.

Furthermore, cleaning, brushing teeth at least twice a day coupled with dental flossing should be made a habit. Last but not least, the dentist should be a friend to be paid a visit frequently. it might sound a bit expensive but it is worth it.
