Besides, the water in a pool is gently circulated, and mosquitoes will only prefer still water. Natural swimming pools do not harbor human pathogens since the diverse ecosystem combined with the freshwater microorganisms filters the water for other microorganisms.

How to Build Your Natural Pool

Natural pools are quite easy to build with materials that are always readily available. You can use gravel stone and clay instead of concrete, and you can utilize natural aquatic plants in place of chlorines and other harsh disinfectants.

For the construction of a natural pool, the first thing you need is to design and dig a pit. You can dig it as deep or as shallow as you want, provided you offer the right slope for the sides. The proper slope is one foot of vertical dropper three feet of horizontal to prevent side soil from caving in.

You also need to reserve at least 50% of the pool’s surface area for aquatic plants. The plants replace the need for chlorine or expensive filtration and pumping system. The bacteria on the plants act as natural filters not to mention that as water passes through the fibrous roots of the plants, it will be filtered.

Your filtration systems need to circulate continuously, and therefore you can use a pump to pump the water through the filtration zone. An aerator can be utilized to ensure the right oxygen levels are proper. You can also use a skimmer to remove floating debris from the pool.

To ensure that your pool will contain the water, you can use a synthetic liner, or you can apply a bentonite clay. Bentonite is a binding agent that grabs the soil particles thus preventing water from leaking.

It’s that simple. Through these simple steps, you can create and enjoy a modest but effective natural pool!
