There are some natural painkillers you can easily use at home. Let’s find out what nature has to offer for pain relief.

It is safe to say that even now we still don’t know the effect certain drugs have on the body and mind.

There is a huge debate in Australia about vaccinating young children and many parents are choosing not to because they are concerned about the effects they have on their children.

Natural medicine has been around a lot longer than conventional medicines and it’s incredibly useful to know what we can use that’s totally natural to help with pain relief.

Below Are 6 Different Natural Painkillers.

1. Acupuncture

For many, a needle phobia would instantly put us off the thought of trying acupuncture. But if you are able to get past the needle phobia, acupuncture is incredibly effective in treating osteoarthritis, migraines and many other types of chronic pain.

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese medicine that believes in the energy channels being blocked in the body and that is what causes the pain. It is believed that by inserting a very thin needle into the skin, the body will release serotonin, which is a chemical produced by the body itself to help with pain relief.

2. Cloves

It’s well known that clove oil is great for a toothache, applied directly onto the tooth it can help with pain before you can get to a dentist. It’s worth noting that applying too much clove oil to the gums could damage them.

So only use it as a temporary measure until you can get to a dentist. Cloves are also great for helping with nausea and can help with pain from headaches and inflammation.

3. Spicy Food

Certain spicy vegetables have chemical properties within them that have been proven to help with pain relief. Cayenne pepper is very useful for post-operative pain particularly an amputation or mastectomy.

The best and quickest way of ingesting cayenne pepper is to mix it with water and lemon, not exactly a tasty drink but a great way to ingest it.

4. Ice and Heat

This is a cheap and easy way to help relieve swelling and pain. The ice pack is placed on a muscle or tendon that has been strained and the temperature of the ice will help with the swelling to go down.

Once the swelling has gone down, next use a heat pack to help with the stiffness that comes with a strain. If you are suffering from arthritis, a heat pack is great for relieving joint pain.

5. Lavender Oil

Powerful Herbs for Pain Relief

An incredibly useful essential oil, Lavender works wonders if you suffer from headaches frequently and you don’t like taking painkillers for it. A few drops of oil to the fingers and massage the temple can really help with painful headaches.

If you mix Lavender and Peppermint oil together it can be a great post-workout muscle massage oil.

6. Epsom Salt

If you suffer from painful joints, taking an Epsom salt bath can help to relieve the pain. It’s also great if you have just had a baby and are looking to relieve the pain and inflammation associated with childbirth.
