There are some simple but brilliant kitchen renovation ideas if you look to fine-tune your kitchen but are not ready to spend a fortune on it.

Whether you look to sell your house or just want to give your kitchen a fresh look, there are some great renovation ideas for your kitchen that will help you save money and time.

Some people have suggested that armed with a brand new kitchen, a house on the market will sell at ease. Whether or not that is true is still up for debate, but there’s no doubt that it can help considerably in your quest to sell your home.

Unfortunately, there is one big problem. Kitchens are one of the most expensive rooms to renovate, with figures suggesting that it can cost as much as $33,000 to do. As such, a renovation of this ilk isn’t open to everyone, and this is the reason behind today’s post.

We will now take a look at some of the best renovation ideas that will help you fine-tune your kitchen, without blowing your whole budget in one go. Ultimately, these are cheap “hacks” that can still make a monumental difference to your kitchen, and make potential buyers eat out of your hand.

1. Get creative with your storage

In truth, a dissertation could be penned on storage. It’s the downfall of so many homeowners, for the simple reason that most of us are happy to hoard items over years with no intention of ever using them.

Sure, the magazine publications might suggest that most kitchen worktops are completely empty, but in reality, this is seldom the case. Instead, they are piled with pots, pans, salts, peppers and anything else that can squeeze in there.

This is where you need to start getting creative. It might be a case of hanging small units on the underside of cupboards, to hide them from the naked eye. Or, it might be investing in “good looking” storage items, which at least divert attention from the clutter and to the storage element in question.

2. You don’t have to buy a completely new kitchen

In most kitchens, there’s a lot of wood. In other words, a lot of carpentry has been involved to craft all of the cabinets so they look as good as they do. This is where a lot of expense arises from. Fortunately, there is a solution.

While it might be tempting to purchase brand new cabinets, this is going to do nothing but eat into your budget. Instead, consider either painting your existing ones or just buying new doors. Precautions have to be taken in relation to the former, as some finishes (such as veneers) are not going to react well to a fresh coat of paint.

Additionally, with new doors, you need to measure accordingly and ensure that all of your cabinets are suitable for replacements. Ultimately, there are lots of things to consider when you opt for this approach. However, it does save a huge amount of money, and to the naked eye wandering into your kitchen, it will look as though you have invested in a completely new room.

3. The same rules apply to appliances (almost)

Sure, you probably don’t have as many appliances as cabinets, but one would be surprised at just how much dirt these attract and the detriment this can do to your overall kitchen appearance.

In short, the rule here is to clean them up and make sure they stand proudly in your room. It might mean turning to a washing machine repair if you are missing the odd button or anything else from the exterior, but it is completely worth it in a bid to refresh your kitchen.

4. Place more attention on your lighting

If your kitchen is like the majority in the country these days, it is probably sat under umpteen spotlights. This is again where you can start to get creative. Firstly, spotlights now come in all shapes and sizes – and colors.

Some of you might opt to change things up by opting for a “cold” light as opposed to the standard “warm” LEDs which are present in most homes. Or, you can even purchase LEDs that alternate colors. This is one of the simplest and neatest kitchen renovation ideas.

However, this is just the tip of the iceberg. If you push things further, don’t be afraid to install lighting over the top of worktops and inside cupboards. This adds an extra dimension to your cabinets and just gives them a little charm. Again, it’s a case of highlighting the “right” things in the room as well, rather than focusing on the dated items that have bored you up until now.

These and other renovation ideas and tips will give your kitchen a new look and won’t require much money. What other hacks have you used to fine-tune your kitchen?
