These illustrations capture in a funny way what adulthood is actually like. They might make you remember the transition from your childhood years.

While we are young, we strive to achieve the things we dream of.

Almost every young person dreams of being out there with the great ones. We put enormous amounts of energy into that task and do not stop until we get what we want. We go to college, work odd jobs, make the impossible possible, but in all that chaos we forget to notice the fact that we’ve become adults.

Growing up isn’t a problem, forgetting is. By the time we are in our late twenties, we forget most of the silly things that made us happy in our childhood. We abandon the memories of the games we used to play or our favorite spot where we used to go to hide from everybody else. Some of us even feel ashamed to say that once we were children.

Somehow we all take a firm grip of adulthood and don’t let go. Most of us don’t know at which point we started posting about the traffic on social media nor when we started enjoying federal holidays so much. It just happened one small step after another and we became the grown-up versions of ourselves.

What are the signs that you are an adult?

That is what Chicago-based illustrator and art director Cristina Vanko tried to figure out in her series of funny illustrations ‘100 days of Adulting’. There’s a point at which you know for sure that you are an adult. Is it just one thing or it is a number of things that makes you a grown up?

For Cristina, this series of illustrations represents an exploration into the world of adulthood and a realization that all of these little things you do make you a responsible grown-up person.

Cristina is now 27 and she already has countless collaborations with prestigious clients under her belt. One might even say that she has been in the adult world for quite some time now. Her work was featured in NY Magazine, Chicago Tribune and Huffington Post among many other prestigious publications.

This series of illustrations reveals her artistic side while exploring a topic that is relevant to most people in their late twenties and early thirties. All the illustrations in the ‘100 days of Adulting‘ series start with the words “You know you are an adult when…”

Enjoy these exquisite illustrations and have fun, even though you are a grown-up.
