Are you suffering from oily skin? If yes, it’s important to figure out the ways to get rid of oily skin and stop it from recurring.

Before we discuss how to get rid of oily skin, it’s important to understand what causes it. Although the oily skin may have hormonal or genetic causes, it may also be caused by a range of different factors that include; your daily diet, stress and hormonal changes.

These affect the condition of the skin and can stimulate sebum production. Women going through their menstrual cycle, pregnancy or who are menopausal are also often more prone to oily skin.

Additionally, too much washing and scrubbing of the skin can effectively dry it out, stimulating the sebaceous glands to produce excess oil. When this occurs, not only do the pores enlarge, but the skin also becomes more susceptible to pimples, blackheads and skin irritations.

Here are some simple home remedies and tips that will help you get rid of oily skin.

They can aid with naturally reducing the fat content of the skin and its unsightly shine.

1. Use Lemon Juice

If you want to get rid of your oily skin using a natural remedy, lemon juice is a great solution. Lemon juice contains citric acid, which makes it a very effective and affordable solution. Citric acid has both astringent, and antiseptic properties that help to reduce large pores of the skin.

Lemon juice also helps rebalance the skin’s pH and brighten scars and discoloration of the skin.

For the use of lemon juice: Mix 1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice with ½ teaspoon of distilled water and agave nectar. Soak a cotton ball in this mixture and dab the skin. Leave for 10 minutes and then wash the face with warm water.

Then cream the face with coconut oil. Repeat the application once a day.

2. Regular Skin Cleansing

The daily, gentle cleansing of your skin helps to minimize not only the shine but also impurities. Wash your face in the morning as well as in the evening with a cleansing lotion or gel that suits your skin type.

Rinse everything with cold water to close the pores a little bit. And never forget the make-up removal!

3. Eat Healthily

Taking care of your inside is another important factor if you want to get rid of oily skin on your face in a natural way. This is because certain foods can stimulate sebum and sweat production, such as very greasy or spicy food; even unhealthy ready meals are not suitable for your skin.

Therefore, try to eat a healthy and balanced diet with lots of fruits and vegetables. Above all, drink plenty of water, which provides your skin with well-needed moisture.

4. Do Not Exfoliate Too Often

Scrubs are great for removing sebum deposits on the skin and stimulating blood circulation. Nevertheless, you should not overdo it; too frequent scrubs not only dry out the skin but also increases sebum production. Therefore, only about twice a week to exfoliate for oily skin * grab!

5. Use The Right Moisturizer

Do you sometimes assume that your skin is hydrated enough, thanks to the increased production of sebum? Sadly this is not correct. If you do not give your face the right amount of moisture, it can dry out easily, which then leads to more sebum.

You should, therefore, abstain from using moisturizing products that contain greasy ingredients such as Vaseline or mineral oils in your daily care. Oil-based lotions are also taboo; these make you shine even more, and can place a film-like layer on the surface of the skin that clogs the pores.

Instead, you should always aim to use an extra mattifying moisturizer with the right ingredients. Even with sunscreen, you should always pay attention to the ingredients.

6. Use Products With Salicylic Acid

Salicylic acid is, without a doubt, one of the best ways to get rid of oily skin which is responsible for impurities, especially in the T-Zone. In addition, salicylic acid cleanses the sebum interior walls in lotions and creams or as pure active ingredient and pores appear less large.

7. Use Honey

Honey cleanses the pores, reduces swelling, reduces excess oil on the skin and also has a preventative effect on wrinkles. The moisturizing properties of honey provide the skin with sufficient moisture without fats.

The natural antiseptic properties of honey are also very beneficial against acne, which also makes it an affordable and easy way to get rid of oily skin. Just apply a thin layer of honey to your face and let it work for 15 minutes. Then wash the face off. Repeat the application twice daily.

8. Use The Right Foundation

If you have acne prone or greasy skin, it is vital to pay attention to certain things when choosing your foundation. For example, avoid makeup with silicone (yes, many masking products actually contain what you already have enough of).

9. Use Healing Clay

Want to know how to get rid of oily skin with a face mask? Why not try clay? Regular masks or peels with healing clay can be a very effective measure to get rid of oily skin on the face. This is because clay powder pulls the sebum out of your pores and can matt the skin for a long time.

For example, you can apply a healing clay mask before going to an event where you do not want to shine too much in the face.

10. Apply Cucumbers

Cucumbers contain various nutrients that help prevent oily skin. They are rich in the antioxidant vitamins A and E and provide potassium and magnesium. Cucumbers also have a calming effect, cool the skin and reduce the pores of the skin thanks to the astringent properties.

Simply cut a fresh organic cucumber into thick slices and rub in the face thoroughly. Soak overnight and rinse with warm water the next morning. Repeat the application daily at bedtime.
