If there is one drink you should be drinking before bed it’s this: Golden Milk.

This incredible drink has some exceptional health benefits, especially when you drink it in the evening. Make it in advance for a few hours before you plan to go to bed.

The main ingredient, which relates closely to the drink’s powerful name, is the ever impressive turmeric. The main compound of turmeric is curcumin, a polyphenol from the Curcuma plant, which has the potential to create more than 150 therapeutic activities. It also has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-cancer properties.

Curcumin has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries. It is non-toxic, antiseptic and natural. The powerful spice has been associated with the treatment of snake bites and stopping vomiting during pregnancy.

But the secret ingredient to this drink lies in another natural addition, black pepper. When you combine turmeric with black pepper, it dramatically increases the benefits of the spice. Allowing the bio-availability of curcumin to increase by about 1,000 times.

The properties of black pepper, such as piperine, allow for this mix to take place and increases the amount of curcumin that gets into your bloodstream. It, in fact, allows your body to absorb 2,000% of the turmeric.

How to make Golden Milk:

First, make a turmeric paste separately by following these instructions:

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup of filtered water
  • ¼ cup turmeric powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground pepper

Method:

Mix all the ingredients together in a small cooking pot, stirring them over medium heat until the mixture becomes a thick paste. Let the mixture cool and store in a jar in the fridge.

Next, make the Golden Milk by adding ingredients and some of the turmeric paste:

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon of coconut oil
  • ¼ teaspoon or more of a paste of turmeric
  • Honey
  • 1 cup almond milk

Method:



Mix all the ingredients together in a cooking pot on a medium heat except the honey, do not let boil. Add the honey to taste.

Drink Golden Milk every night before you go to bed to really see the health benefits. If this isn’t possible, then drinking Golden Milk once a week alongside a healthy and balanced diet should also improve your overall health.
