Celiac disease is a digestive disorder caused by an abnormal immune reaction to gluten.

What happens is as follows: as soon as a patient with celiac disease consumes gluten, his/her immune system reacts by damaging the small intestine and causes various symptoms, including diarrhea, bloating, fatigue, and abdominal pain.

Because the intestine becomes inflamed, it may also lose its ability to absorb nutrients from the consumed food, which leads to other associated illnesses.

Celiac disease (or gluten intolerance) is characterized by the body’s inability to digest or break down gluten. Some people with gluten intolerance have a mild sensitivity to gluten while others have full-blown celiac disease.

Different people will experience the disease in different ways because the symptoms vary greatly from one person to the other.

Celiac disease is mostly developed in people who are genetically predisposed to suffer from it, but the actual reasons for its occurrence are still vague. According to the University of Chicago Medical Center, people have a 1 in 22 chance of developing celiac disease if their parent or sibling has the condition.

People who have other autoimmune diseases and certain genetic disorders are also more likely to have celiac disease. Some researchers also suggest that it may be triggered by the way in which some gut bacteria respond to gluten.

Gluten is basically a protein found in grains, such as barley, wheat, oats, and rye.

Wheat flour is one of the most difficult ingredients to avoid:

Aside from the obvious wheat-containing foods such as bread, pasta, biscuits, crackers, and pastry, it is often a hidden ingredient in many processed foods, like frozen French fries, soy sauce, and rice cereal, just to name a couple.

Besides, gluten can sometimes be found in certain medicines, vitamins, and lipsticks! Natural treatment for celiac disease involves healing the intestines and following a strict gluten-free diet.

Aloe Vera, paprika, and probiotics are some of the best healing aids, as they are safe and effective home remedies.

Celiac disease can be difficult to diagnose because it affects people in different ways. There are many symptoms of celiac disease, and here are the most common ones for adults which should not be ignored.

If you are experiencing any of these, you should talk to your doctor as soon as possible:
