Some people have faith that everything happens for a reason, while others are not so sure.

Merely thinking about the possibility of the fact that everything happens for a reason can be overwhelming.

Your thoughts can spiral out in so many different directions and you can question even the most minute aspects of life; “Did that yellow butterfly just land on the bench for a reason?”.

We can’t be certain if every little thing that happens is teaching us a lesson, however, if we choose to find a lesson or an aspect of beauty in everything that happens to us, our lives will undoubtedly be richer.

It’s so easy to get slowed down with repetitive, negative thoughts when experiencing unfortunate circumstances.

Going through a breakup or losing a job may seem like the worst thing possible at the time, however, you can gain positive insight from every experience.

It’s often true that when ending a relationship you lose a sense of security and comfort, not to mention a best friend, but what you can gain afterward greatly outweighs this.

With the chance to focus on yourself you will find open doors which you were never aware of before. Maybe you will better realize your life passion or maybe you will finally get the puppy you’ve always wanted after dating someone who was allergic.

You can start truly putting yourself first and making important decisions with yourself, and only yourself, in mind. If you land a great job opportunity in another city, there is nothing holding you back!

Not having to compromise on your future is one of the greatest feelings.

The same can often be said about losing a job too.

Often we get stuck at jobs that make us miserable or that don’t allow us to reach our fullest potential. We get comfortable having steady paychecks and we are too afraid of the risks involved in quitting and putting ourselves out there.

Getting fired can be a blessing in disguise because it will give you that push to do what you should have been doing all along.

These are just a couple of examples of how seemingly horrible things can actually be good for you, and how everything happens for a reason.

Of course, there are much worse things that can happen in life than going through a break-up or unemployment, however, if you make it through a horrible experience, you will be all the more ready for what else the world has to throw at you. “That which does not kill us makes us stronger.”

We’ve all heard Kanye West rap about it and some of you may have even read it in Nietzche’s original context, circa 1888. This is a commonly discussed concept throughout history and one that will help bring positivity to your life.

Every time something bad happens, try to take a step back and think about it from an outsider’s perspective, without taking everything so personally.

Think about what you can learn from the experience or how the experience has inspired you to live or think in a different way. Think about how you can avoid other negative experiences and how to be the best version of yourself you can be.

In the end, you can go through a negative experience and be bitter about it or go through a negative experience and learn something from it. Either way, you will go through a negative experience, you get to choose how it affects your life.
