How often have you heard the term “soulmate” being thrown around? We all know a general definition, but how many of us can actually say they have found theirs?

There are people who confuse soulmates with life partners, claiming they have found one when they’re actually speaking about the other. Settling down with a life partner, however, should not be undermined simply because they are not “soulmates”, especially since some people don’t even believe in the concept.

Our relationship choices can be influenced by a variety of different factors, including life circumstances, timing, availability, security amongst many others, however, people say that it is when you least expect it, that you will stumble across your soulmate.

It will feel like a completely different connection than any other you have experienced in the past and you will know you have found something special when you get it.

“Your soul mate makes you feel entirely intact like no piece is missing from the puzzle. A life partner, on the other hand, can be a great supporter and long-time companion, but is limited in his or her capacity to enrich your spirit.”

– Dr. Carmen Harra.

Soulmates are people who bring out the best in you. They are not perfect but are perfect for you.” – Anonymous.

Not sure if your partner is your soulmate? Read Dr. Harra’s 10 elements to see…

1. It’s something inside

Describing how a soul mate makes you feel is difficult. It’s so profound you couldn’t possibly put into words the strong feeling you are experiencing. “Love” simply doesn’t cover it and you can’t find the words that do.

2. Flashbacks

If you feel an odd sense of déjà vu around your partner, chances are you have been around them in a past life, increasing the chances of them being your soulmate.

3. You understand each other

Sure, it’s easy to feel as though somebody understands you – but do they really? On a deeper level? Being able to have a connection where you can literally finish each other’s sentences and tell what the other is thinking is a deeper understanding that soulmates achieve effortlessly.

4. You’re in love with their flaws

Seeing somebody in their most raw form and loving them even though they have a lot of flaws is a bond that comes with being with your soulmate. Soulmates accept and love each other’s imperfections, something that other couples fail to achieve.

5. It’s intense

The relationship just feels intense. From the ways in which you handle arguments to the feelings you have inside – you are both focused on spending the rest of your lives together and that intense bond only comes with being soulmates.

6. You’re a team

It’s an “us against the world” type of situation when soulmates are together. They feel so connected that they can take on anything, with their soulmate by their side.

7. You’re mentally inseparable

Soulmates have sometimes been found to have a mental connection similar to that of twins. They may have a form of intuition that is spooky – picking up the phone to call one another at exactly the same time or knowing exactly when to walk away from a negative situation.

8. You feel secure and protected

Your partner should always make you feel secure and protected within the relationship and within life itself, your soulmate will always make you feel this way without even trying. A person who plays on your insecurities – whether consciously or subconsciously, is not your soul mate.

9. You can’t imagine your life without them

A soulmate is not somebody you can walk away from easily. It is somebody you strongly believe is worth fighting for, regardless of any negative periods that you may encounter – you know you are meant to be together.

10. You maintain eye contact

Soulmates tend to look at each other in the eyes when speaking a lot more than other couples do, due to their natural connection. They feel comfortable and confident in doing so and do so often.

What do you think about this list? Do you think you have found your soulmate? Do you even believe that “soulmates” exist? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
