The health claims of vinegar are well documented.
Medical journals and health magazines have been championing the powers of different types of vinegar for generations. Those include the benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV), the cleaning powers of White Wine Vinegar (WWV), and the cholesterol-balancing Balsamic Vinegar (BV).
Most types of vinegar can help with a range of ailments. Thanks to its natural antifungal and antimicrobial properties, it can really help cure and alleviate minor health problems and support an ongoing healthy gut. What’s more, it can also be a safe and natural alternative to other artificial household cleaners.
To help persuade you even further about why you should consume a teaspoon of vinegar a day, here are just some of the benefits of consuming raw vinegars:
1. Weight loss: ACV
Apple Cider Vinegar is a natural weight regulator, particularly when consumed over long periods of time. Take a teaspoon of ACV by adding it to a glass of water at room temperature. Then, drink the mixture every morning before you start your day.
2. Regulate blood sugar and appetite: WWV
As published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition, White Wine Vinegar has been proven to help reduce the glycemic index of foods. It was found to be especially effective when consumed at the same alongside meals. The study also showed that it can help regulate blood sugar, reduce insulin sensitivity in people with diabetes and help control appetite. What’s more, it also tastes great and features a number of recipes!
3. Stabilize cholesterol: BV
In the Journal of Nutritional Science and Vitaminology, a study was published about the polyphenols in Balsamic Vinegar. These polyphenols give BV the ability to allow LDL cholesterol (the bad kind of cholesterol) on its quest to oxidize. This is the kind of damage you don’t want, as it can lead to disease, illness, and speed up the signs of aging.
4. Balances your internal pH: ACV
Your body’s pH levels are extremely important, and more and more journals and studies are increasingly recognizing that. Many people have been identified as having low pH levels, or a strong acidic state, which can increase the chances of infection and cause fatigue. By drinking a teaspoon of ACV every day (typically in a glass of water), you can restore a healthy pH balance in your body and become more robust at fighting off illnesses and infections.
5. Prevention of tumors: WWV
A study conducted in 2006 revealed that White Wine Vinegar can assist with the prevention of tumor formation. The tests showed that WWV slowed down the development of certain cancerous growths and even stopped others from forming in the first place. This is largely because of the polyphenols it contains, which neutralize free radical cells.
